Coffee House on LML Music
Musical Direction by Christopher McGovern

Broadway baby Susan
Egan's new CD, coffee house"like Rebecca Luker's leaving home on PS Classics" reveals a softer, more introspective performer tackling unexpected material with style and flair. The musical direction and production for both women is by Christopher McGovern who clearly knows how to bring out the best in female vocalists, allowing them to sound reflective, smart and emotional. Egan, who's known for her brassy, full-throated mid-register, offers lovely, heartfelt renditions of material by Joni Mitchell, Cat Stevens, Karla Bonoff and Janice Ian among others. Throughout, she sounds terrific with sumptuous arrangements that prove she can sing a pop song as convincingly as she does a show tune. And that's always a good thing.
